Bangladesh police Sunday arrested a suspected terrorist from the border district of Ukhia, near camps where thousands of Rohingya Muslims fleeing a military crackdown in Myanmar have taken shelter.

Bangladesh today released the CCTV footage of four suspected terrorists including a woman linked to the Dhaka cafe attack, the country's worst terror assault by terrorists that killed 22 people, mostly foreigners.

The terrorists who attacked an upmarket Dhaka cafe on Friday "treated hostages like cockroaches", shot them and mutilated them with machetes, a top Bangladesh security officer has told NDTV.

Bangladesh security forces today arrested three suspects wanted over the murder of a Japanese farmer who was shot dead last month in an attack claimed by the Islamic State group.

It was a swap after all. In exchange for Anup Chetia, founder member of the banned separatist group, ULFA, India on Thursday deported a man wanted in Bangladesh for the murder of seven people in April 2014. He had been arrested in Kolkata last June for illegal entry.

Bangladesh's elite counter-terrorist force, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested five members of the banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir from Dhaka, a day after the army said it had foiled a coup attempt. Sources said that one of the main plotters has been identified as Major Zia-ul-Haq who's linked to the extremist religious group.
