Ten Tamil Nadu fishermen were today arrested and their boats impounded by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly fishing in their territorial waters. While four of the fishermen belonged to this island town, the others hailed from Jegadapattinam in Pudukottai district, Fisheries department officials said.

The Puducherry Fishermen Association has expressed strong protest against the government's "delay" in disbursing relief to fishermen affected by natural calamities.

A fisherman's welfare association said it would stage a demonstration in front of the office of Project Implementation Agency on March 7 to protest against 'delay'' in implementing housing scheme for tsunami hit fishermen families of Vambakeerapalayam hamlet.
