Large parts of Mumbai and its suburbs faceda power failure, due to which several trains were held up. The outage, according to the city's electricity supply board, was because of the failure of a power grid. Traffic signals at some areas too stopped working. The power supply has been restored in most parts of the city.

Work to generate 500 Megawatt power at Kudankulam begins

With the atomic energy regulator's clearance to gradually increase power generation levels to 500 Megawatt at the first unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) in Tamil Nadu, the Nuclear Power Corp of India (NPCIL) hopes to connect the plant to the grid this month end, said officials.
