Lawmakers have unanimously agreed to give up the decades-old subsidy on food sold at the parliament canteen, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy announced on Thursday. The decision, however, seemed exactly similar to one announced in 2016.

The subsidised rates of food in Parliament canteens will continue, as a Parliamentary Committee today decided against raising the rates, saying it would affect Parliament employees mostly. Most lawmakers prefer to eat at their respective homes, only a minority of them eat in Parliament, said the Committee.
