The police in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar on Friday extended restrictions under CrPC section 144 till May 12 citing law and order situation over counting of panchayat election votes and some festivals in the coming days, according to an order.

The district panchayat polls in Noida will be held on May 29 and votes counted on May 31, according to the notification of the election issued on Tuesday.

BJP leader and Dadri Nagar Panchayat Chairman Geeta Pandit's husband Vijay Pandit(37) was shot dead by four unidentified persons in Dadri area tonight, after which a mob set ablaze 16 vehicles near a police station in protest.
