An infiltration attempt by the Pakistan Army's Border Action Team (BAT) in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran sector was foiled by the security forces this week, resulting in the deaths of at least five intruders, the Indian Army said on Saturday evening.

A BSF soldier's throat was slit by Pakistani troops along the international border or IB near Jammu on Tuesday, in an incident that is likely to ratchet up tension between the neighbours at a low point in ties. Head constable Narendra Singh's mutilated body was found near the border, said the BSF.

An officer of the Indian Army and three soldiers were killed and their bodies mutilated by Pakistan's Border Action Team or BAT in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday, army sources told NDTV.
