The streets of Mumbai, the country's commercial capital, turned into a sea of saffron today as nearly 10 lakh Marathas hit the road with a long list of demands that's headed by reservation in jobs and education. The protesters also want farm loan waivers and amendments to the SC, ST Act.

Mumbai, especially South Mumbai, is likely to face a near shutdown as the 58th Maratha Kranti Morcha is scheduled to be held today. All schools in areas such as Dadar, Sion, Mahim will remain shut and the police have also put out advisories especially on traffic diversions. Schools in suburbs will stay open.
