Unhappy over the delay in getting clearances for his projects, the world's largest steelmaker, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, today said India was not his top priority for investment.

"He should stop maligning India and the Indian government. Why is he not beginning work on his projects?" Mr Verma said.

Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma has said that NRI billionaire LN Mittal should stop "maligning" India and its government, asking why the steel baron was not setting up his plants in the country.

LN Mittal and US hedge fund Farallon Capital may be looking to invest into the company.
