A 59-year-old man, accused of cheating a Madhya Pradesh resident of Rs 1.3 crore on the pretext of getting him a loan from LIC Housing Finance, was arrested from northwest Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place, police said today.

A massive fire broke out around 10 am on the 16th floor of the LIC building on Jawaharlal Nehru Road in central Kolkata. The floor housed the server room of the State Bank of India's (SBI) global market office. The chief general manager (Kolkata circle) of SBI, PP Sengupta, said there was no news of anyone getting stuck on the floor.

All 8 accused in the multi-crore corporate loan scam have now got bail. They were earlier sent to judicial custody till Decmber 16th. The CBI has found documents on 50 million shares in the block deals pertaining to the multi-crore loan scam. One hundred and eighty gold coins and gift vouchers have also been recovered from the Money Matters office....
