China's military buildup poses no threat to the world, Defence Minister Liang Guanglie said on Tuesday, in an effort to allay fears among Asian neighbours amid long-running maritime disputes.

China's Defence Minister Gen Liang Guanglie today commenced a five-day visit to India during which he is expected to allay New Delhi's concerns over Chinese military infrastructure build-up along the border and discuss the revival of joint exercises halted four years back.

India and China are expected to resume their bilateral military exercises next year. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken during the five-day visit of Chinese Defence Minister General Liang Guanglie, starting tomorrow.
