Land Boundary Agreement Bill to be Passed by Parliament Again

Parliament will again go through the process of passing a bill on the India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement this week as the earlier version approved by the two Houses has some drafting errors, perhaps the first such faux pas in a Constitutional amendment bill.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who on Thursday called for a unanimous passage of the bill on land boundary agreement with Bangladesh, herself inadvertently pressed the wrong button in the Lok Sabha while voting on the legislation, sources said.

Cabinet Clears Land Boundary Agreement Bill, Assam Included For land Exchange

The cabinet today cleared the bill to operationalise the Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh. The bill is expected to come up in Rajya Sabha tomorrow. The bill paves the way for land exchange with Bangladesh in four states -- West Bengal, Tripura and Meghalaya and Assam.
