High Court sets aside single bench order for release of Italian ship

The Kerala High court on Tuesday set aside a single judge's direction to release, on furnishing a bond, the Italian ship 'Enrica Lexie' detained off Kochi port since February 15 in connection with gunning down of two Indian fishermen allegedly by marines aboard the vessel.

The owner of the Singapore-flagged vessel, suspected to have collided with a boat off Kerala on March 1, has been directed by Kerala High court to pay Rs 25 lakh each to families of the four of the five fishermen killed.

Kerala hit-and-run ship headed towards Chennai

Cargo ship MV Prabhu Daya, suspected to have been involved in the March 1 hit-and-run accident off the Kerala coast in which three fishermen on board a fishing vessel were killed, is now heading towards Chennai Port after a person reported missing from the ship was rescued by fishermen, Indian Coast Guard officials said here on Monday.
