Kerala Sets An Example, Petrol, Diesel Prices Cut By Re 1

Petrol and diesel prices in Kerala today came down by Re 1 each following the state government's decision to reduce cess. While petrol sold for Rs 81.40 per litre and diesel stood at Rs 74.05 a litre. The decision to reduce sales tax was taken during cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday.

Kerala government today announced a price reduction of Rs. 1 on both petrol and diesel from June 1, 2018. The state's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the price cut earlier today, saying that they have decided to lower the taxes in order to bring the retail cost down for consumers.

In some relief to the people, the Congress-led UDF Government in Kerala on Thursday waived the additional revenue to be accrued through sales tax from the latest petrol price hike, but opposition LDF and BJP enforced a dawn-to-dusk hartal demanding roll-back of the increase, disrupting normal life across the state.
