Police in Karnataka have rescued a schoolgirl who called them for help after learning she was to be married to a much older man, campaigners said on Tuesday, in a case highlighting the risk of child trafficking in the region.

A case has been registered against five persons, including a person who married a minor girl at Shivanagi village, 35 km from here, police said on Friday. A case was also filed against the parents of the groom and the bride on Thursday.

Police in Karnataka have rescued a schoolgirl who called them for help after learning she was to be married to a much older man, campaigners said on Tuesday, in a case highlighting the risk of child trafficking in the region.

A case has been registered against five persons, including a person who married a minor girl at Shivanagi village, 35 km from here, police said on Friday. A case was also filed against the parents of the groom and the bride on Thursday.
