India Rethinks Most Favoured Nation Status For Pakistan

A day after reviewing the Indus Waters Treaty, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting to review the grant of Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to Pakistan. India unilaterally accorded MFN status to Pakistan in 1996, but Pakistan has not reciprocated in the two decades since.

Hundreds of members of Pakistan's Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), an Islamist charity linked to outlawed militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, have been protesting in Lahore against the granting of Most Favoured Nation (MFN) trade status to India by the Pakistan government.
