HMT Machine Tools, 10 other sick PSUs get Rs 116 crore for payment of wages, other dues

The government on Thursday provided Rs 116.86 crore to eleven sick public sector units (PSUs), including HMT Machine Tools, towards payment of wages and other dues. The decision to provide funds to the PSUs was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

The government today said nine sick state-owned companies including Scooters India Ltd, HMT Bearings and Hindustan Cables Ltd have not paid salaries to their employees on time, and a proposal is being considered to sanction non-plan loans to eight of them to ease the situation.
