The Delhi government's Goods and Services Tax (GST) department on Saturday unearthed a Rs 347-crore "fake billing scam" involving 11 firms and one person was arrested in connection with it, according to an official statement.

In the ongoing drive to counter the fake billing operations, the Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) Commissionerate arrested an accused for creating a network of 38 fictitious firms to generate and pass fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) of Goods and Service Tax (GST) amounting to Rs 38.91 Crore.

The Delhi Assembly on Wednesday passed the state Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill even as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal pitched for capping the tax rate at a maximum of 10 per cent.

The Finance Ministry in a statement said that tax collection of Rs 17.10 lakh crore in 2016-17 is a growth of around 18 per cent compared to last year.
