Indian Mujahideen suspect Fasih Mahmood, deported from Saudi Arabia in 2012 for his alleged involvement in terror acts here, has been allegedly assaulted by a jail inmate inside the high security Tihar jail.

Suspected Indian Mujahideen module Fasih Mahmood, who was deported from Saudi Arabia last year, was today chargesheeted for terror acts in connection with the 2010 Jama Masjid attacks.

Missing engineer from Bihar, Fasih Mahmood, is in a jail in Saudi Arabia, according to the Indian government. Bringing him back, where he is wanted for alleged links to several terror attacks, will be a lengthy and complicated process, the government informed the Supreme Court.

Sources have told NDTV that Fasih Mahmood is one of the founding members of Indian Mujahideen and that he studied in the same engineering college as Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal. The Bhatkal brothers - founding members and top commanders of Indian Mujahideen - are currently based in Karachi.

The central government told the Supreme Court on Wednesday that it had never taken into custody Fasih Mahmood, an engineer from Bihar who went missing in Saudi Arabia, and was trying to ascertain his whereabouts.
