Indian government has no plans to ban low-budget smartphones under Rs. 12,000, said Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar in response to a query about government’s plan to ban Chinese companies from selling phones under a particular category. Chandrashekhar also stated that India looks forward to build domestic brands.

There are no plans from the part of the government to ban Chinese smartphones under Rs. 12,000, a recent report claimed citing government sources. This information comes a few days after another report earlier this week had claimed that the government seeks to ban smartphones from Chinese brands under the price range of Rs. 12,000.
