The Indian Space Research Organisation will continue its Chandrayaan series of lunar probes until an astronaut from the country lands on the Moon, said ISRO Chairman S Somanath on Wednesday.

The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, which was launched on GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle successfully from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota on July 14, has covered about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon. The spacecraft was successfully launched onboard LVM-3 on July 14, 2023, at 2:35 PM IST.

Hours before moon lander 'Vikram' touches down on the lunar south pole, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Chandrayaan 2 mission manifests the best of Indian talent and spirit of tenacity. "Its success will benefit crores of Indians," he said in a series of tweets.
