Bhilai Steel Plant Blast

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent notices to the centre and the chairman of the public sector company, SAIL, over the death of 11 workers in a blast at the steel major's Bhilai plant in Chhattisgarh.

Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh on Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs. 30 lakh each to the families of workers who lost their lives in a blast at SAIL's Bhilai Plant in Chhattisgarh, the steel ministry said.

Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh today reached Chhattisgarh's Durg district to take stock of the situation at the Bhilai Steel Plant where an explosion took place on Tuesday, and promised to offer all possible help to the victims and their families.
