Bangabibhusan

Nobel laureate Amartya Sen will not receive the Bangabibhusan', the highest civilian award conferred by the West Bengal government, his family said on Sunday.

He was 75 and is survived by wife and son. Pandit Bhaduri, considered to be one of the masters of Bengali songs and Bhajans, was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other respiratory ailments for quite sometime.

Governor M.K. Narayanan and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee conferred the "Bangabibhusan" on 13 eminent people while 20 others were honoured with the "Bangabhusan" for their outstanding contribution in respective fields.
