"After I read the script of Neerja, we realised that Sonam's features match a lot with Neerja Bhanot. Neerja was tall and did modelling, and so did Sonam. So, I told her that I want to produce a film and she was surprised. I gave her the script to read and she was impressed with the narration," said Atul Kasbekar

"Atul Kasbekar (producer) initially spoke with the family. Before us, different people have asked them for the rights to make a film on Neerja. For some strange reason, they have said no to them, but they said yes to us. I think you should ask the family, as to why they trusted us," said Ram Madhvani
