The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday transferred 8 District Magistrates (DM) and 12 Superintendent of Police (SP) in five states, namely Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.

The Assistant Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan District of Assam was suspended on Thursday for her alleged rude behaviour with Singaporean and ASEAN delegations during two international conclaves held recently.

A high-power panel formed by the Home Ministry for implementing Clause 6 of the Assam Accord has given its report to Assam Chief Secretary Sanjay Krishna, after the panel members waited for a few days in Delhi but did not get an appointment from the Home Ministry to receive the report, sources have said.
