About 100 Christian tribals were reportedly converted to Hinduism at an event organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in south Gujarat's Valsad on Saturday.

The announcement came after former India pacer Ajit Agarkar, who guided the Mumbai team to their 40th Ranji Trophy title last season, announced his retirement.

The 35-year-old Agarkar started his career as a capable batsman by scoring a triple hundred in junior cricket before shifting his focus to pace bowling.

The Irani Cup will commence at the Wankhede Stadium on February 6. Abhishek Nayar will now lead Mumbai against Rest of India.

Agarkar, who maintained his winning record in Ranji finals, making it seven out seven, could barely catch his breath soon after the game was won.
