22 Dead Several Injured

Madhya Pradesh Bus Accident: At least 22 people were killed and several others were injured when a bus they were travelling in fell from a bridge in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone today, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra said.

22 people were killed and dozens were scalded as a boiler exploded Wednesday afternoon in the newest power generating unit at a state-run NTPC plant in Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. The number of dead and injured may rise as many are believed to be trapped inside the unit. Many of the injured have suffered severe burns.

The tragedy that struck the 'city of dreams' yesterday, extinguished at least 22 lives on a narrow, rickety foot overbridge linking Parel and Elphinstone Road stations.

Three pedestrians were killed and five others injured after trees fell on them as gale force winds pounded a rain-drenched Kolkata on Wednesday evening, throwing normal life out of gear.

Twenty-two people have died in a stampede at the Allahabad Railway station. The toll, however, may go up with several of the injured in critical condition. They have been admitted to the Swaroop Rani Hospital and the Railway Hospital in Allahabad.
