Rakhi Sawant and Mika Singh: On June 12, 2006, Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant filed a police complaint against Mika Singh, the pop singer, for allegedly forcibly kissing her. Sawant, who also approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) with her grievance, claimed Mika "brutally assaulted me and forcibly smooched me." Recounting the alleged incident, Sawant said she visited Mika's birthday party on his invitation and greeted him like a good friend. "But to my surprise, he took advantage of our relationship and forcibly kissed me on my lips twice," she said. Although Mika apologised for his behaviour, that did not stop him from parodying the whole incident in a song that he cut with the Meet Brothers.

Harbhajan Singh: Cricketer Harbhajan Singh found himself embroiled in yet another controversy on April 25, 2008 after allegedly slapping Kings XI paceman S Sreesanth during their Indian Premier League encounter in Mohali. Harbhajan, leading the Mumbai Indians side, allegedly slapped Sreesanth when latter said something to him which the off-spinner found offensive. The paceman was seen crying bitterly on the ground at the end of the IPL match, which his team won by 66 runs. The two have since made up, saying the incident is now behind them.

Harbhajan Singh: In January 2008, Australia's all-rounder Andrew Symonds accused Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh of racial abuse, alleging that Singh had called him a "monkey" during the third day of the Second Test at the SCG after Symonds confronted him over touching fellow Australian player Brett Lee. Singh received a three Test ban, which was later lifted when the ICC appeals commissioner John Hansen found insufficient evidence against the cricketer. However Harbhajan was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for a lesser offence of using abusive language.

In 2008 Campbell was arrested for attacking a police office at London's Heathrow Airport and misbehaving with British Airways cabin crew after one of her bags got lost. Just as Swift began her acceptance speech for the best female video award, West jumped onstage at Radio City Music Hall. "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he said, as a shocked Beyoncé looked on and the crowd began to boo West. In an off-the-record comment, President Barack Obama later described West as a "jackass" for his boorish behaviour at the VMA.

But that one moment of insanity cost the Girl Interrupted star three years' probation, 480 hours of community service, $3,700 in fines and $6,355 in restitution to the Saks Fifth Avenue store. Since she was found carrying non-prescription drugs at the time of her arrest, the court also ordered her to attend psychological and drug counseling. Ryder remained on probation until December 2005.

Hugh Grant: Actor Hugh Grant was arrested on July 27, 1995 near Sunset Boulevard after the vice squad police found him in a compromising position with Hollywood prostitute Divine Brown. Grant, who was dating actress Elizabeth Hurely at the time, pleaded no contest to the charge of lewd conduct in a public place and was fined $1,180 and was placed on 2 years probation. He even offered a public apology on the show Larry King Live: "I could accept some of the things that people have explained, 'stress,' 'pressure,' 'loneliness' -- that that was the reason. But that would be false. In the end you have to come clean and say 'I did something dishonorable, shabby and goatish.'"
