Born on October 18, 1984, Freida always aspired to be an actress. As a child she would stand in front of the mirror and imitate actors. Her sister Sharon says, " Every afternoon, she'd sing or put on a play for the family."
The 10-year-old Freida admired Miss Universe Sushmita Sen and dreamed of becoming an actress one day.
‘I am going to do something like that some day, " she said.
Before Danny Boyle came calling Freida was a struggling model-actress. Her early work included an anchoring stint on Zee International's travel show Full Circle.
Not many remember her appearing in advertisements for Wrigley's Chewing Gum, Škoda, Vodafone India, Airtel, and DeBeers.
Freida also appeared on many runway shows and magazine covers.
Luck was a lady for Freida when she auditioned for Slumdog Millionaire and landed the role of Latika, the female lead.
Slumdog swept the box office and the awards, winning 8 Oscars in 2008. Frieda earned some nominations as well, including a BAFTA for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Freida has not looked back since.
The success of Slumdog also brought with it scandal, as a steamy music video of Freida was released.

The media enjoyed a field day when Freida broke up with her fiancee Rohan Antao and started dating her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel.
Many even claimed that she was secretly married to Rohan, but Freida quite obviously denied the rumors.
Dev and Freida have never admitted to a relationship but their many red carpet appearances together set the rumour mill working.
Yet again there was talk of an engagement. Dev's mother was reportedly quite upset when she read this online and he had to explain – “I was like, Mum I didn't (get engaged) trust me."
After her incredible performance, she bagged a role with Hollywood director Woody Allen. You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger had the likes of Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Anupam Kher and Naomi Watts sharing screen space with the actress.
Estimates put her post Slumdog asking price at Rs 13 crores. That leaves the likes of Aishwarya and Kareena way behind.
In 2009, Freida made it to the 10th position on FHM's Sexiest Women list which had Megan Fox, Jessica Alba, Adriana Lima et al.
The world at her feet: She sizzled on the cover of Vanity Fair. The magazine also claimed that Freida was a modern day Helen of Troy, a huge compliment indeed!
Looking effortlessly sexy on the cover of Maxim India was another feather in her hat.

Freida's fashion forward red carpet appearances put her on the best dressed list of style bible Vogue.

She made the wrong kind of news at Fashion Week when she inadvertently revealed more than she meant to.
Currently she is filming with the gorgeous James Franco for Rise of the Apes where she plays a primatologist. Sounds interesting!
