Fuel price hike makes man dump his car for horse

Nagpur:

With the recent hike in fuel prices, many are left looking for ways to save petrol. While car pooling is an option for a few, some others prefer public transport like buses. But here is someone who chooses to gallop to office and back.

The fuel price hike has compelled Sanjay Pandey to think out of the box. This Nagpur-based businessman is now learning to ride a horse to commute to work.

This, after he sold his luxury car worth a few lakh to buy a stallion for only Rs 40,000.

It may look like a common man's protest against the recent hike in fuel prices, but for Sanjay, it is much more than that.

"It's very good. No waiting at the petrol pumps. No flat tyres and no pollution," he said.

Sanjay's decision came at a time when Nagpur saw several rallies in protest of the fuel hike. Today, he spends just Rs 40 a day on fodder for his horse. It is much better than Rs 150 he spent on an average on fuel.

And his horse trick is not only helping Sanjay save money, it's also giving him the satisfaction of not adding to the carbon footprint.
