RSS Worker In Uttar Pradesh Shot Dead By Bike-Borne Men, No Arrests Yet

Police said three armed assailants attacked RSS worker Rajesh Mishra in eastern Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur when he and his brother were sitting in their building material shop.

RSS worker in Ghazipur, Rajesh Mishra, was declared brought dead to the hospital.

Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh: A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker was today shot dead allegedly by bike-borne men in Ghazipur in eastern Uttar Pradesh and his brother suffered a bullet injury while trying to save him. Rajesh  Mishra also worked as a stringer for the Hindi daily Dainik Jagran. No arrests have been made yet.

Three armed assailants attacked the RSS worker this morning when he and his brother were sitting in their building material shop in Brahmanpura Chatti area, circle officer Hridayanad Singh said.

Police said Rajesh was shot in his head. When his brother Amitesh Mishra, 35, intervened, he was shot in the abdomen, police said.

The brothers were taken to the local government hospital by locals, where Rajesh was declared brought dead, while Amitesh was referred to Varanasi for treatment. Locals, angry that the police did not reach the spot on time, vandalised nearby properties.

A senior Uttar Pradesh police officer said that two of the attackers have been identified.  "Of the three assailants, two have been identified, and soon all of of them will be arrested," ADG Law and Order Anand Kumar said in Lucknow.
