Parliament Budget Session 2026: The proceedings in Lok Sabha began today with discussions on the President Droupadi Murmu's address, a day after finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her ninth Union Budget in the Lok Sabha.
A total of 18 hours has been set aside for the debate, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to respond on February 4.
Proceedings also began in Rajya Sabha. Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to give her reply on February 11.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address on February 4.
Sharing details of the marathon debate beginning today, he said that Sarbananda Sonowal will initiate the discussion and it will see at least five noted speakers from the BJP joining the discourse today. He also slammed the Opposition for persistent negative mindset and refusing to acknowledge the positive aspects of the Union Budget.
"Today we have five speakers from the BJP because the total discussion time is 18 hours spread over three days. Keeping this in mind, the NDA will get around 55 per cent of the time. The motion will be moved by Sarbananda Sonowal and seconded by Tejasvi Surya. After that, the Leader of the Opposition will speak. The Prime Minister will reply on February 4 evening," Rijiju said.
He added that the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address will be followed by an extensive debate on the Union Budget.
Parliament Budget Session 2026 Live: NDA Parliamentary Party Meet Tomorrow To Discuss Budget
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will hold a Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday morning to discuss the Union Budget 2026 and the vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047.
The meeting will be held at 9.30 am in New Delhi and will be attended by top NDA leaders.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and all other NDA ministers and MPs will be present at the meeting.
PM Modi will also address the NDA parliamentary party meeting.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Monday moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha to discuss the reference of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in one of the emails of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
References to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2017 visit to Israel were made in an email purportedly part of the recent 'Epstein Files' documents released by the US government on January 30, 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs has rubbished the references as "trashy ruminations by a convicted criminal".
In the adjournment motion, Manickam Tagore expressed concern over PM Modi's diplomatic engagement mentioned in Epstein's mail, stating that it directly impacts India's international image, moral standing, and constitutional credibility.
