Harsiddhi Heights case: Court postpones hearing to February 21

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court today adjourned the hearing of the Harsiddhi Heights housing complex case till February 21.

The court had earlier granted an interim stay on the further sale of flats at the controversial 18-storey housing complex in Mumbai's Worli area.

Harsiddhi Heights came under the scanner after the Navy complained that it was dangerously close to its missile base INS Trata and did not have naval clearance.

After the Navy's objections, the government issued a stop-work notice in 2008. However, by then the building was almost ready. The Navy alleges that the construction continued despite the stop-work notice.

As investigations proceeded, NDTV found out that several top bureaucrats or their relatives owned flats in the building, again raising questions about whether their influence helped garner clearances.

Flat owners in Harsiddhi Heights

• Ajay Nair: Son-in-law of former Maharashtra Chief Secretary RM Premkumar

• Rachita Ratho: Wife of State Energy Secretary Subrat Ratho

• Satish Bhide: Former Joint Municipal Commissioner

• Nikhil Gehrotra: Relative of former Finance Secretary O. P. Gehrotra

• YP Singh: Former IPS officer, now lawyer; helped expose Adarsh Scam

Though they have denied any role in granting the building clearances and insist the Navy's No-Objection Certificate was not required, The Navy is now seeking the demolition of the structure.
