Assam: 20 civilians shot dead by Bodo militants

Sonitpur: With two more people shot in Kokrajhar district in lower Assam, 20 civilians have now been shot dead by the Bodo militant outfit NDFB in serial killings in Assam's north bank of the Brahmaputra.

In one incident, at least eight bus passengers were lined up and shot dead at point blank range.

The incidents have been reported from Sejusa, which is at the Assam-Arunachal border, and Dhekiajuli.

Last week, the outfit said it would kill 20 people to avenge the killing of one of its cadres by security forces.

NDFB has been very active in Sonitpur district. This year, they abducted at least 20 people from the area which is otherwise the headquarters of the Army's 4 Corp.

NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary is presently in government custody.

The group is responsible for October 30, 2008 serial blasts. Till 2008, they were in a ceasefire agreement after which one faction broke away and the anti-talk faction group reorganised themselves.
