Suresh Oberoi Recalls Struggling For Son Vivek’s Debut: "Went Door To Door"

Vivek Oberoi left a strong impression on cine lovers with his debut in Company, but getting his first break was not an easy journey. Behind the scenes, his father Suresh Oberoi went the extra mile to help him find an opportunity in the film industry. The veteran actor recently recalled how he went door to door looking for work for his son. He even approached filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who eventually gave Vivek the break that changed the course of his career.

In an interview with Nidhi Vasandani on her YouTube channel, Suresh said, “I had to struggle for him again, went door to door. Like I used to take my pictures, now I was taking Vivek's pictures.” 

Suresh Oberoi recalled that he was working with Ram Gopal Varma at the time when the filmmaker was searching for an actor for Company. The filmmaker asked to see a tape of Vivek's acting and Suresh remembered that his son had one from his acting institute. He said RGV came over to watch the tape and was immediately impressed by Vivek's performance.

While Vivek has appeared in several films over the years, Suresh Oberoi revealed that Saathiya remains his personal favourite film of his son. He also spoke about feeling overwhelmed with pride and getting emotional to the point of tears after watching his son's performance in Company.

On the work front, Vivek Oberoi was last seen in Rohit Shetty's OTT action series Indian Police Force and the comedy film Mastiii 4. The actor is currently preparing for his role in Nitesh Tiwari's multi-part epic Ramayana. He also has Vishal Ranjan Mishra's Grey in the line-up alongside Nithya Menen and Ashish Vidyarthi.
