As per reports, Jaane Jaan by Sujoy Ghosh is based on The Devotion of Suspect X, the 2005 bestselling novel by Japanese author Higashino Keigo. Speaking to Variety about the project, Kareena Kapoor, “I can't wait to begin work on this exciting project. It's one that has all the right ingredients – a great story, a visionary director and a super-talented cast and crew. I'm really looking forward to working with Sujoy, Jaideep, and Vijay. It's the beginning of an electrifying journey and I can't wait for audiences worldwide to see this global bestseller book come to life.”

Jaane Jaan and her other upcoming project The Buckingham Murders [tentative title] are both thrillers. About this, the actress said, “For me, it's very different because obviously you're used to seeing me in all the mainstream movies, which have the song, the dance, the gloss, the glamour. Both these films are shockingly different.”

Netflix has always showcased films from different parts of the world in the most authentic manner, backing artists who love what they do and giving them a platform to reach 190 countries! I am looking forward to seeing the viewers react to a role that I believe is one of my best!”
