Live : Maldaha Dakshin Assembly Election 2021

One of the 543 constituencies in India, Maldaha Dakshin will go to the polls on April 23. The Maldaha Dakshin constituency was formed in 2008 after the implementation of delimitation law. This is the third time the constituency will vote. The constituency comprises Manikchak, Englishbazar, Mothabari, Sujapur, Baisnabnagar, Farakka and Samserganj assembly seats. The Maldaha Dakshin constituency comes under Maldaha and Murshidabad districts.

A total of 1573433 voters have been registered from the constituency this time among which are 800475 are male voters. 34 of the total electorates are registered as third gender candidates.

Polling in Maldaha Dakshin constituency will be held at 1616 booths.

Congress has been winning this seat since its formation. The party is fielding the sitting MP Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury alias Dalu for the third time in a row. Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury won the election last time by a margin of 164111 votes defeating the nearest rival BJP candidate Bisnu Pada Roy. CPM had the third highest vote count.

BJP is pitting Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury against the two-time elected MP of Congress.

Trinamool Congress which has a weaker hold on the seat so far has nominated Md. Moazzem Hossain as its MP candidate from this seat.

Bahujan Samaj Party has given ticket to Fulchand Mandal.

Three out of 10 contenders have filed their nomination as independent candidates.

Among regional parties contesting for the Maldaha Dakshin are SUCI (Communist), Party for Democratic Socialism and Aihra National party.

Last time the voter turnout in this constituency was 81.09%.
