The 17th Lok Sabha Election 2019 in the Chatra constituency of Jharkhand was held in the fourth phase on April 29, 2019.

Chatra constituency is one of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand. In 2014,BJP's Sunil Kumar Singh was the winner for the 2014 General Election. He received 2,95,862 votes. The runner up for the 2014 election was Congress candidate Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, who received 1,17,836 votes. Sunil Kumar Singh, the sitting MP, won with a margin of 1,78,026 and the polling percentage was 54.32%.

In 2009, the winner for the 15th Lok Sabha election was an independent candidate Inder Singh Namdhari who defeated the INC candidate Dhiraj Prasad Sahu with a margin of 16,178. The winner and the runner up received 108336 and 92158 votes respectively. The polling percentage was 45.67%.

In 1971, Congress candidate Shankar Dayal Singh won the elections. In 1977, Sukhdeo Verma from the BLD won the in Chatra constituency of Jharkhand. In 1980, Ranjit Singh from the Indian National Congress (1) won the General election. In 1984 Yogeshwar Prasad Yogesh from INC was the winner. Both in 1989 and 1991, Upendra Nath Verma from the Janata Dal won the election. In 1996 and 1998, Dhirendra Agarwal from BJP won the election. While in 1999 and 2004, Nagmani and Dhirendra Agarwal from Rashtriya Janata Dal won the election respectively.

In 2019 General Election from Chatra, Arjun Kumar from CPI, Nagheswar Ganjhu from BSP, Manoj Kumar Yadav from INC and Sunil Kumar Singh from BJP are the candidates for the 17th Lok Sabha Elections.
