In the 2014 general election, Shripad Yesso Naik of the BJP won the North Goa seat. He received 2,37,903 votes. Ravi S Naik of the Congress was his closest opponent with 1,32,304 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, Shripad Naik won the North Goa seat with 1,37,716 votes. His closest opponent was Jitendra Raghuraj Deshprabhu of the Congress. He received 1,31,363 votes.
North Goa Lok Sabha constituency was earlier called Panaji Constituency. In 1971, Purushottam Kadokar of the Congress was elected from Panaji (now North Goa) Lok Sabha constituency. In 1977, Amrut Shivram Kansar from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party was elected. In 1980, Sanyogita Rane from MGP became the MP from North Goa seat. In 1984, Shantaram Naik of the Congress was elected from North Goa parliamentary constituency.
In 1989, Prof. Gopalrao Manyekar from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party was elected from North Goa. In 1991, Congress candidate Harish Narayan Prabhu Zantye won the seat. In the 1996 elections Ramakant Khalap from MGP won the seat. In 1998, Ravi S Naik of the Congress won the seat.
After the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayjee lost the confidence vote, elections were held again in the year 1999. Since 1999 to 2014, Shripad Naik of the Bharatiya Janata Party has dominated the North Goa Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2019 general election, Congress will be represented by Girish Raya Chodankar, BJP by Shripad Yesso Naik, Republican Party of India (Kamble) by Amit Atmaram Korgaonkar and Aam Aadmi Party by Dattatraya Padgaonkar. This year, North Goa will have two independent candidates, Aishwarya Arjun Salgaonkar and Bhagawant Sadanand Kamat.
Currently, North Goa has 20 assembly segments under it. These include, Mandrem, Pernem, Bicholim, Tivim, Mapusa, Siolim, Saligao, Calangute, Porvorim, Aldona, Panaji, Taleigao, St. Cruz (Goa Assembly constituency), St. Andre, Cumbarjua, Mayem, Sanquelim, Poriem, Valpoi and Priol.
