About Arrah

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Raj Kumar Singh from BJP won from Arrah constituency in Bihar. He won with 3,91,074 votes against ShreeBhagwan Singh Kushwaha from Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) who managed to get 2,55,204 votes. 

Congress'Baali Ram Bhagat had won on the Arrah seat five times consecutively from 1952 to 1971. In 1977 and 1980 Chandra Dev Prasad from Bhartiya Lokdal and Janta party (Secular) became the Member of Parliament from Arrah constituency. In 1984, Congress' Baali Ram Bhagat returned back to Parliament from the Arrah seat. In 1989, Rameshwar Prasad from Indian People's Front won followed by Ram Lakhan Yadav from Janta Dal in 1991 and Chandra Dev Prasad Verma in 1996. 

In 1998, HP Singh from Samta Party was elected. Then in 1999, Ram Prasad Singh from RJD won and in 2004 Kanti Singh, also from RJD, won from the Arrah seat. In 2009, Meena Singh from Janta Dal (United) won from this constituency. 

There are seven Legislative Assembly seats under the Arrah Lok Sabha seat. These include Sandesh, Barhara, Arrah, Tarari, Jagdishpur, Shahpur, and Agiaon. The Agiaon Vidhan Sabha seat is reserved for scheduled caste candidates. 

The General Election 2019 in Arrah constituency will be held in the last phase, that is on May 19, 2019. For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the NDA alliance has announced Raj Kumar Singh from BJP as its candidate from Arrah.
