West Bengal Class 12 Fake News: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has clarified that reports circulating on social media about the cancellation of the Class 12 semester system are false. The council urged students to rely only on its official website - wbchse.wb.gov.in - for authentic updates.
The misleading posts also claimed that the old annual system (old syllabus) would be reinstated for the 2027 Higher Secondary (HS) Class 12 examinations.
"A news has been spread over the social media that the Council has cancelled the Semester System for Higher Secondary Examaination, 2027 and the students appearing the H.S. Examination, 2027 will continue their studies under Old Annual System (Old Syllabus)." the official notice stated.
"All concerned are hereby informed that the above news is totally false and fabricated and the Council has no relation with this fake news." the official notice added.
The West Bengal Class 12 examinations for 2026 were conducted from February 12 to February 27. The results are expected to be announced soon on the board's official website. Students will also be able to check their results on NDTV's board exam page also.
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) was established under the WBCHSE Act, 1975 to regulate and oversee the 10+2 education system in the state. Headquartered at Salt Lake, Bidhannagar, Kolkata, the Council operates along with four regional offices. It functions as a statutory body responsible for supervising and controlling higher secondary education in West Bengal.
The Council advises the State Government on matters related to higher secondary education and manages key functions such as upgrading institutions to the Plus-2 level, granting and renewing recognition, approving subjects and co-education permissions, prescribing curriculum and textbooks, and conducting the Class XI and XII examinations, including result declaration and certification.
