Schools in Delhi reopened today for Classes 10 and 12 after a gap of more than nine months. The Delhi government took the decision to allow the CBSE board exam candidates to prepare for the upcoming practical exams and complete internal assignments. The schools have been allowed to reopen after 10 months with COVID-19 protocol in place. Students have to carry written permission from their parents to attend school.

Schools have been asked to ensure sanitisation of classrooms, laboratories and other common areas and keep a stock of face masks and sanitisers for students. Sanitiser dispensers are to be installed at the entrance of each laboratory. Students will take the practical sessions in smaller batches.
The government has suggested a ‘bubble effect' in which students must remain in the same group to minimize contact.
Yesterday, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia held a meeting to review preparedness of each school.
Instructions have been put out for Class 10 and 12 students and school employees. Teachers will conduct an orientation and provide emotional support to students through counselling.
Teachers will discuss the CBSE syllabus, marking scheme and exam guidelines to help students understand the new board exam pattern as declared by Union Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank'.
The pre-board exams for Class 10 students will be held tentatively between March 20 and April 15 and for Class 12 from April 1 to 15.
There have been mixed reactions to the reopening of schools among students and parents.
Various other states across India have been reopening schools in a phased manner. Rajasthan is also reopening its schools today.
