CBSE has asked schools to get a security/safety audit done of its premises and personnel from their respective local police station. The audit should be compiled and reported online on the CBSE website within two months of issue of the circular.
Schools have also been asked to install CCTV cameras at all vulnerable points of the premise and make sure that the cameras are up and running all the time. Schools are also required to get police verification and psychometric test done for all the teaching and non-teaching staff members.
The schools should ensure that all supporting staff is employed only through authorized agencies and a proper record for the same is maintained.
The schools are also to have a committee with parents, Teachers and Students as members. The committee would address needs for student safety and will operate in close contact with parents.
Schools have been asked to closely monitor and regulate the visitors from outside the school. It is also the schools responsibility to train its staff to protect children from any kind of abuse, mental or physical.
The Schools are also required to constitute separate committees for redressal of public/staff/parents/students grievances, Internal Complaints committee on sexual harassment and committees under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) Act, 2012. The details of these committees should be prominently displayed on the school noticeboard and website.
