Mahindra Thar Clocks 3 Lakh Unit Sales In Five Years

Mahindra has recorded yet another sales milestone, as the brand's most popular off-roader, Thar, has registered over 3 lakh sales in India. The Mahindra Thar has achieved the sales milestone in just five years since its launch in October 2020. Further, the brand introduced the Thar Roxx in September 2024, which accelerated the popularity and sales numbers of the nameplate. 

Interestingly, the Mahindra Thar Roxx comprises 68 percent of Thar's sales in the first 5 months of FY2026. According to the reports, the Roxx gained traction in a very small time frame, as it clocked 71,000 units in under a year and was positioned as a volume booster for the Thar nameplate. Reports also suggest that currently, the Thar has contributed 15 percent of Mahindra's SUV volumes since 2020.

With the new GST structure introduced by the Government of India, Mahindra has slashed the prices of the Thar SUV by up to Rs 1.35 lakh, making the off-roader more affordable than ever. 

The Mahindra Thar gets three engine options, including a 1.5 L mHawk turbo diesel, a 1.5 L mHawk turbo diesel, and a 2.2 L mHawk turbo diesel engine. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Thar Roxx gets a 2 L mStallion turbo petrol, and a 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine, available as options. 

The prices of the Mahindra Thar begin from Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 16.61 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the prices of the Mahindra Thar Roxx start from Rs 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
