Honda, the Japanese motorcycle maker, has brought back its flagship superbike to the Indian market. The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade has been launched in the country at a price tag of Rs 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec model launched in India is claimed to be a result of the Honda Racing Corporation's inputs, which gives this superbike a MotoGP pedigree.
The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP derives power from the 999cc, liquid-cooled inline-four engine, which works in conjunction with a 6-speed gearbox with bi-directional quickshifter and ride-by-wire throttle. This setup pushes the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade to deliver a peak power of 217.5 hp at 14,500rpm and 113 Nm at 12,500rpm of maximum torque.

Adding to the massive power is the lightweight aluminium diamond frame that assists it in sprinting with the MotoGP-like DNA. The braking duty is performed by twin 330 mm discs with Brembo Stylema calipers in the front and a 220 mm rotor on the rear. The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP gets a pair of 17-inch wheels on both ends and stands on electronically adjustable Ohlins EC 3.0 at the front and an Ohlins monoshock at the rear.

In India, the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP competes directly with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and BMW S 1000 RR. True to its premium features and performance, Honda has positioned the Fireblade SP at a higher price point of Rs 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and BMW S 1000 RR are priced at Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 20.75 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
