Plane Veers Off Runway at Kabul Airport

Passengers of a commercial airliner walk towards the main building of Kabul's Khwaja Rawash International airport in Kabul

Kabul: A Boeing 737 passenger plane skidded off the runway when landing at Kabul airport in heavy rain on Thursday, officials said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.

The Ariana Afghan Airlines jet flying from New Delhi was not damaged as it veered off the landing strip before coming to a halt, and all passengers disembarked safely.

"The plane made an emergency landing at Kabul International Airport due to bad weather conditions," Mohammad Moeen Ayazi, Ariana's chief airport officer, told AFP.

"All the passengers were safely evacuated, and we don't have any casualties." Airport police confirmed the incident.
