Man arrested over Twitter shooting threats in Los Angeles

Los Angeles: US police have arrested a man who tweeted that he would shoot random people on the streets of Los Angeles if his posts got 100 retweets.

Dakkari McAnuff, 20, was arrested on Wednesday after posting pictures of a rifle pointing towards LA streets, each with the caption "100 RT's and i'll shoot someone walking."

"During the investigation, officers discovered multiple pictures displaying an unknown type of rifle pointing in the direction of various Los Angeles city streets," an LAPD spokesman said.

Officers traced the Twitter account user to his downtown LA residence, where they arrested him.

"An air rifle was recovered at the scene," said the spokesman.

McAnuff was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats.

His Twitter account has since been taken down.
