6 lakh Indians died of cancer in 2012: Lancet report

A study published in leading medical journal Lancet has found that cancer is the big killer in India and hits Indians much earlier than Westerners. Cancer claimed 6 lakh Indian lives in 2010 and contrary to popular perception, it is is no longer a disease of the rich. It killed twice as many as poor and illiterate Indians as their educated, wealthy urban counterparts.
