Sunrisers Hyderabad knock Royal Challengers Bangalore out of IPL

Sunrisers Hyderabad became the fourth and final team to reach the playoffs in the Indian Premier League 2013 with a scrappy 5-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the last league match being played at Uppal, Hyderabad. The victory also meant that Royal Challengers Bangalore were knocked out of the tournament.

Dale Steyn (2/24), Amit Mishra (1/20) and Karan Sharma (1/15) were the pick of the bowlers while Anand Rajan (1/22) and Thisara Perera (1/33) ably supported them. Only Yusuf Pathan with 49* off 29 balls could muster up an innings of courage against a fine bowling attack. (BCCI Image)

Thisara Perera accounted for Bisla in his first over of the game. Skipper Cameron White completed an easy catch to send him back for 15 off 18 balls.
It was then up to the experienced Gambhir and Jacques Kallis to guide the team forward but the former was dismissed via a comedy of errors in the middle. The Indian opener wanted a run but Kallis refused. It was too late for Gambhir to turn back, being dismissed run-out for a 17-ball 10. (BCCI Image)

Eoin Morgan, who had started off with a smashing reverse sweep four, was the next to go as leggie Karan Sharma trapped him right in front. He scored 9. (BCCI Image)

Yusuf Pathan then joined Kallis and immediately looked in his elements with a smashing boundaries off Perera and Sharma. Kallis, who had batted steadily, was then accounted for by country-mate Dale Steyn for 24 off 29 balls. The home team though, did make heavy weather of what looked a simple chase at one stage at 89/0 with Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel going great guns. They then lost 4 wickets within 19 runs as Kolkata bowlers fought back. (BCCI Image)
