Nagpur Test, Day 5: England win Test series in India after 28 years
England merely completed the formalities as a pedestrian Indian side never turned up. Defensive fields, lack of effort and demotivated players were the order of the day for the home side. Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell did not have to do much to ensure a series win.

Team India had a minute chance of squaring the series with England beginning the day on 161/3. All those thoughts though were quickly put to rest as Trott and Bell went about their job without much fuss. The scoring was not exceptional but it never needed to be. Indian bowlers toiled hard but defensive fields settings, unimaginative captaincy and lack of urgency meant that nothing was created. If a team wanted to win that badly, it would have done something out of the ordinary. India got Trott out for 143 but by then match was gone. (Photo credit: BCCI)

Ian Bell completed a Test ton on Indian pitches finally. True, he did not have to work that hard but it would have been satisfying nonetheless. He was ably supported by Joe Root late on. England declared on 352/4 and took the Test series. (Photo credit: BCCI)

It was major disappointment for India losing a Test series at home after 8 years. Introspection from the players is necessary but board needs to come up with a concrete plan to take Indian Test team forward. It does not happen in India but reviving the longest form requires innovation. (Photo credit: BCCI)

England team though, will be extremely happy with their fightback qualities. They had a drop in performances this year, losing to Pakistan and South Africa. Ending their year on a high note would definitely boost confidence, especially looking to the Ashes. (Photo credit: BCCI)

Before the series many would have thought that Kevin Pietersen's presence in the England dressing room will be a bit of a lottery. It was in the end but England hit the jackpot. What a remarkable turnaround for the visitors after the first Test loss in Ahmedabad. (Photo credit: BCCI)
