  • The little master Sachin Tendulkar may be out of sorts but there is no denying his class. Having not scored a Test century for over eighteen months he would be looking to cash in on this opportunity to score some big runs.
  • With the possibility of VVS Laxman retiring during the series, this veteran shall look to go out in a blaze of glory. An average of over fifty against the Kiwis means that he could well produce one more 'Very Very Special' innings.
  • Virender Sehwag has the onus to provide India the perfect start to their innings. Viru has in the past been responsible for denting the opposition's confidence in the first session of play itself and with an inexperienced bowling attack in front of him, he will fancy his chances.
  • Virat Kohli has the chance to convert his ODI and T20 form into Tests. Known never to walk away from a fight, Kohli's strokeplay is expected to add a sense of flair in the Indian batting line-up.
  • This series could well be the chance for Cheteswar Pujara to cement his place in the Test side. A man who despite his talent was out in the wilderness, Pujara will be keen to prove a point or two when he takes guard.
  • Once again the bowling department is spearheaded by seasoned campaigner Zaheer Khan. He will use all his experience into play as he is familiar with the type of players India will come up against on the field.
  • Pargyan Ojha has the responsibilty of the spin bowler. Should he get into a rhythm he can really cause problems for the batsmen and in these conditions he would be a handful for the strugglers against spin.
  • The young kid on the block, Umesh Yadav is eager to show that his performance Down Under was not a flash in the pan. Should he get the chance, Umesh can pick up vital wickets particularly when there is partnership developing. In short, he is an asset for Team India in the Test matches.
